I see these boys bidding on ebay on super M's and super H's, bidding the big bucks on them. I guess the value is the live hydraulics??? But, I see quite a few of these "Supers" are apparently PH 1 models, since I can clearly see there is no reservoir under the gas tank. Why would they bid so high if it was a ph 1 and not equipped with live hydraulics? Do they not notice? Or, is there something I am missing here?
I must admit, I can get pretty excited about a ph 2 super M or super H, but not a ph 1. I'd just as soon have a late regular M or H for a lot less money, which seem like darn nice tractors to me anyway.....

Mike – While the Stage I super series H and M tractors indeed lack live hydraulics, they do have most of the other “super” enhancements. Ie. larger displacement engines (15 – 20% more horsepower), faster geared transmissions, disk brakes, etc. So they are desired by antique pullers, etc.

Also Supers they were only built for a couple years (vs 13+ years for the non-supers) which I guess makes them more desirable in some collector’s eyes.

OTOH there’s no shortage of regular old H’s and M’s transformed by their owners to “supers” simply by slapping new decals on them (I know of several right here in my town….)

Bottom line is the bidding activity on Ebay is a classic example of the Other Idiot Principle at work: Any item is worth exactly what some other idiot is willing to pay.

Like CNKS observes it doesn't have to make sense!

It's ebay, it doesn't have to make sense.

Most dont know there were different phases. A super H to them is a super h .
