Hi, I was wondering if anyone here had ever installed a Wisconsin V4 engine in a Cub or even seen a Cub with one installed. I have a Cub with a busted block and I also have a Wisconsin V4 in good shape just sitting around. I suppose it would be a big pain in the rear but then, who knows? Thanks.

Sounds like a fun project to me. One big problem is the WISCONSON engine runs about twice as fast as the CUB so you will have to reduce the engine speed before it enters the CUB tranny. Just get gears from BROWNING and go for it. Shouldnt be that hard to reduce engine speed about 2 to 1.

A Wisconsin V-4 is about the most irritating piece of #&$% engine to listen to when running!

It would be ABUSE to put one of the $&%& things in a Cub that formerly had a SWEET running engine.

Well, I guess its like the old saying "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder", only in this case its in the ear. And I agree a sweet running cub engine is a joy to listen to. When I was a young man (about 50 years ago) my dad had an IH 50T baler with an engine that I think was a Cub engine and I enjoyed working with that baler because of the sound. (the work was pretty dirty though) When we would finish baling dads hay I would work for a farmer on top of the ridge who had about 3000 acres of alfalfa and a Freeman baler he pulled with a D6. The Freeman had a Wisconsin V4 for power and not much of a muffler. It was loud but it could really work and when it was working hard I'll never forget how it sounded and even today when I hear one of those V4's working hard and blowing snot and smoke it brings back lots of memories. I rode a small slip behind the baler and stacked bales and slid the piles off into windrows. Very dirty, hot, hard work even for a young man. So I enjoy listening to a Cub engine, or for that matter my H and Super C, but I like the Wisconsin V4 too.

Are you talking Cub, or Cub Cadet? If you put it in a Cub, you'll have to fabricate some frame rails to hold the front end on.

I saw a Cub Cadet at the county fair about 3 weeks ago with a Wisconsin V4 in it. That didn't look very complicated.

Mine is a '51 Cub. With a V4 in a Cadet one could probably win a few drag races, I'd think. The engine in my Cub has a big crack in the usual right front corner location. So I dont know, I would rather put in a replacement cub engine or short block but in this part of the country they are a bit harder to find than in the midwest or east. But I may run across one yet. Meanwhile, the V4 lurks in the shed begging to be put to work.

I must second the motion that a Wisc. V4 makes me want to PUKE when I hear it.

Loud, thirsty...looooo oose.

Forced to run an ooold bobcat with one.
HATED the thing after a day!
