Please tell me the advantages and disadvantages of the two types of decals: mylar and vinyl.
Also, how can you tell them apart?
Thanks.
Mike

Vinyl are lasar cut, and go on as individual letters/numbers. The vinyl look a lot nicer. The originals would be like the mylar type. The mylar are the ones that have the "clear" areas between and around the letter part of the decal. Not positive, but I think you can clearcoat over the mylar, but not over the vinyl. Someone will correct me if this is not true.

I have not done it, but I know of someone who has -- the vinyl cut can be clearcoated, it tends to make them look painted on. One other disadvantage of the Mylar is that the "clear" area between the letters does not stay clear very long. A purist may not like vinyl because mylar came on the tractor. I use vinyl.

I've got the opposite problem on my sm and b. the clear areas stayed clear but the paint didn't fade under them.Cheap central tractor paint anyhow.
