706: noise in gearcase

After I got it installed I went out to see how it was going to run. I got 50 yards down the road and I started to hear something in the gear train. It sounds like something is bouncing around and or loose inside.

In my haste to move onto the electronic ignition installation, I did not retain the linkage with cotter pins and it fell out. When I stopped as soon as I started to hear the noise I also noticed that the brake pedal shaft had moved out about an inch.

I don't know how the park brake mechanism works, but when the linkage fell off or the shaft moved out, what is in the inside that will fall off and move around?

I don't have a repair manual for this thing yet, but I am getting one on order. In the mean time I am looking for some advice on what the issue could be and where to access to look into it. I am guessing the plate under the platform will have to come off after more linkage is removed? THanks.

The gears pull without torque interruption at slower speeds, I just hear this noise mostly on the road at higher speeds. Sounds like something is bouncing around inside.

I need to pull the cover and look at reverse shift fork. It doesn"t engage all the way, pops out a lot. I adjusted the clutch, TA and brake. It definately shifts better but won"t always stay in revers.

WHen the parking brake linkage was install and adjusted, it was done in the "park" position. The first time it flipped up it went too far and came detached from the parking rod. Hence the rode went all the way down and this was issue making the racket.

Once I raised the pin, no more noise when driven. I just need to reinstall and adjust correctly.

It's either the nickel part that shuts you down or the simple things overlooked.
