I got an e-mail last night from some guy named Antonio something or other. He said that I had bid on his "item" and was not the winner, but he the winner had not responded to his e-mail. So he was givign me a one time chance to buy the "item" at a cheaper price, which was my highest bid of $665.00. He would even be so nice as to ship the "item" to me free of charge. All I had to do was e-mail him and he'd give me the next steps to follow.

The guy selling the tractor was named Phil, and I had spoken to him directly through his e-mail.

My first time using Ebay and I'm trying to get scammed already. Can you believe it?

Yeah, the frequency of the scams on ebay seem to be increasing. I get at least one scam email a week.

My favorite one was offering me a Farmall M for my opening bid of $1500 when I know it sold for $3000+. You see I bought a set of running gear from the seller a few days before the M went on ebay. I heard it run and we discussed a sale price on the spot $3000. So, I knew this was a scam. I then emailed the scammer back and asked him to deliver it to me and I would give him cash + extra cash for his effort. I asked him why he didn't just call me with the offer. He had my number... Things got real quiet.

There is about a 99.9 percent chance that it is a scam! I received a second chance offer after I had bid on a tractor last winter, and I foolishly answered the E mail before I noticed that the E mail handle was different than the original seller of the item. I even received this offer in my E Bay mail box in addition to my regular E mail. Turns out that this scammer had broken into a persons Ebay account and was sending out these offers through her account. I send a message to the original seller after I noticed the difference in the E mail handle. He of course told me it was a scam. You gotta be careful!!

By all means forward it to spoof@ebay.com
They do care, and even if they can't catch this one, evry little bit helps.

Mike, be really careful on this and all second chance offers. Since you can contact the "legimate seller" directly through his email, deal with that email address only or his phone no. if you have it. Go look the tractor over and then decide if it's worth the price and you will know at that point if you can bring it home. Don't send anyone any money without seeing the tractor and knowing it is truly being offered to you. This is most likely a scam and just looking for your dollars and no tractor will ever arrive. As others have said in previous posts be extremely careful as the fake ebay stuff can look very real. Good luck on finding a H as there are lots of them out there. Hal

I have never had that happen yet but I have not sold any big ticket items either. When ever I get any emails for ebay or any other I emeditaly foward them to spoof@ebay.com or Spoof@paypal.com. If its liget they will usally tell you within a day or not they will tell you that pretty quick too . But still some people take them up on the offer and loose big on there money. You may want to down load the ebay tool bar it has a green light red light or yellow light if a email is from them or not. alot of times they change stuff every day and it will show up red or yellow but I still report them even if I believe its from them its there fault let them figure it out. It will also tell you if you are about to put your ebay or paypal sign in or pass word on a site thats not yours. I would also sugest that you use a password thats has letters and #s thats about 20 to 25 #s and letters long somthing easy for you to type or remeber its alot harder to get hacked that way. like dingdongverylong6904 you get the pictuere. LOL JON

I have to wonder if Ebay and flea markets are the biggest fences for stolen goods in the world.
I have been reading about several people getting busted lately in this state for selling stolen stuff on Ebay.
Never bought on ebay, probably never will. I do buy over the net though.
I usually get the businesses phone number and do a reverse lookup on it to be sure the names match, if not I don't deal with them.

I've just closed my account with e-bay. Never did use it. Just figure its one less chance of getting ripped off.

If it truely is a second-chance offer go into the 'my ebay' part and you should see somewhere. There you can officially accept it through ebay just as if you had won the auction in the first place.

That is not always true, I have had second chance offers on things, that did show up as a second chance offer in my ebay, that was scams, one in particular was a van that I bought, off of ebay, after the auction was over, went and paid for it, brought it home, and found out I had a second chance offer, from a seller in England. Ebay does NOT catch ALL second chance offer scams, PERIOD. To be safer, contact the seller directly, thru the actual auction, NOT thru the second chance offer, and make sure it is the real deal.

Tell Antonio that you would be more than happy to accept his offer, and you will gladly pay him when the tractor is delivered.

Yes, its a scam unless you receive an email in you 'Messages' inside eBay. I received a scam email this week for a Massey Ferguson tractor I bid on and did not win. Be careful out there.
