The difference between a Farmall B and a BN is 8 inches rear width. The differential shaft housings on each side are 22 inches long on a B and 18 inches long on a BN.

Q - "what is a farmall with a narrow front like a B and a narrow rear like a farmall A called"
A = A homemade hermaphrodite.

All Farmall A's came from the factory with a wide front end.
All Farmall B's & BN's came from the factory with a narrow front and wide rear. There were actually three different narrow fronts available, but all were narrow.
