Help!.I just put my SH back together from a clutch replacement. However when I went to depress the clutch pedal, nothing happened. It feels like the throwout bearing is not making contact with the pressure plate.Ihave looked at the repair manual and everything seems to be installed correctly.Iwill gladly take any advise you could offer

Thanks to everyone . However, the problem is still there. Let me try to give you all alittle more imfo.I did not replace the old pressure plate, but I did have to replace the throwout bearing and the pilot bearing.I did notice that when i tightened down on the presure plate to the flywheel the fingers on the pressure plate began to compress in to the center. Is this normal?

Yes it is. The problem may be that the combination of components is way different than before. Make the rod going from the clutch pedal to the little grank arm in the front longrer (maybe as much as an inch or so. The pedal should move only 7/8" to 1" away from the platform (measured at the point of contact) before it begins to feel firm and push the fingers farther in. If this still does not work, you may have put the disk in backwards and its drive hub is jambed against the flywheel (this does happen unfortunately) if so it must be turned around to correct the p[roblem or it will be ruined. Good luck, JimN

Dave has it. Remove the bolts (look at your old clutch and see the holes) I hope you didn't get the pump back in before checking it! Go for it. JimN

Did the new presser plate have 3 bolts to hold it compressed? If so they need removed after installing.

Did you try to adjust the clutch peddle linkage? If the old clutch was worn thin, the linkage should have been adjusted so the old clutch would hold under a load.
