I just bought a Leinbach L-7300 3 point hitch post hole digger. The yoke is not "tall" enough to lift the digger gear box high enough to let the auger become plumb vertical. Has anyone else had this problem? What did you do about it? (It looks like if I extend the length of the yoke about 5 3/4 inches it will lift it high enough.) I called the guy I bought it from ( he has sold 50 to 100 of these) and he said that the only other time he has seen a problem was an other guy with a Farmall.

I thought that the geometry of 3 point hitches was pretty standard across tractors and tractor manufactuters. Is that correct?

Cowman your picture is of the same post hole digger that I bought. The highest that the end of the lower link (where the two pins attach) will go before the chain becomes almost taut is 27 inches off the ground. It needs to be 5 3/4 inches higher to let the auger plumb to the vertical like your picture. In the set up in your picture, how far off the ground are the two pins on the end of the yoke? By the way thanks for all your help!!!

No, I found the pic of your digger on eBay. But I just ran out and checked the arms on my little 154 Leyland "Peanut" tractor and they come up to about 35 inches. Could your sway chains be keeping your arms from raising all the way?

Cowman--the sway chains become almost taut. So thats not why it doesn't go higher. Maybe the tractor is not lifting the lower arms as high as it should or 27 inches is as high as a 504 will lift the pins on its lower arm. I will post another question for anyone with a Farmall 504, asking about the height their lower arm comes up. Thanks for all your help.

I have a saginaw hitch on my H. I adjusted the adjustment legs up on both. The saginaw hitch has verticle adjustment on both sides.

maybe, maybe not. Does your digger have an adjustment on the mail arm that will help you?

I used the "tallest" hole in the digger mast. The 3 point lifting arms on the tractor are adjusted so that the lower link arms rise high enough so that the restraint chains almost become taut.
