How could you visually tell the difference between a TD35 and TD40 (with out name tags)?

One has flat fenders and the other has them rolled down at the back. Can't remember what's what though, but I think the 40's taper down.

Early TD35's had 4 track rollers. Later ones had 5. The engines are the same visually. Only difference is the bore. The 40 is 8" longer than the 35. 40=140" OAL. My 35 engine number begins with TDB----. Don't know what a 40 engine number starts with. Number stamped on side of the block. Hope this helps. Jere

I don"t know too much, but I know that the TD-35 has one less idler wheel on the track at the bottom. I think it might have 4 on each side vs 5 on the TD-40 ( or is it 3 vs 4?). Are those callled bogey wheels maybe? I can"t quite remember.
