Is there a difference between these two motors, if so could someone please tell me what it is. Are the bore and stroke the same.

same displacement. the early 400lp's used a gas head with high altitude pistons. the later 400 lp's and 450lp's used the 364586 propane head and the 450's had a better duration camshaft.

one is a 264 cu inch 450 a 281 cu in, the 400 has more compression after 161366 because they increased the bore to the same as the 281 that's all folks

They made a connecting rod and piston pin change on C-264 but still used 4 inch bore size from factory. Lots of C-264 had 4.125 pistons and sleeves added later. Randy I still think the first 1/3 or so 450 were equiped with the same cam as most 400 were.
