I have a 1949 Cub. It has a mag on it right now but looks like it may have originaly had a distributer. Dose any one know when thay made the switch??

Cubs didn't get distributors until mid-1950. Earlier ones had the J-4 magneto, not an H-4.

I have seen the change quoted on this forum, it was mostly in 1949, but all tractors were not changed at the same time, so yours could be either way.

Your outa luck LOL an H4 mag is to long to fit in the space provided the oil filter canister is in the way. If they would fit J4 magneto would not bring so darn much. JON P.S. IF YOU NEED A MAG LET ME KNOW
