I need to get ahold of the owner, but I want to have a price in my head. There is a '45 H sitting in his field, along with another H and an M. The other two are pretty beat up. Quite frankly so is this H, but less so. I'd prefer to just get it for free, since it is going to require a complete and total restoration, down to the very last screw. But if the owner insists on something, what is a reasonable price?

Scrap metal prices are way up. in reply to Mike CA, 07-23-2006 11:06:39
That's about two tons of scrap metal at the very least, worth a minimum of $200. Anything usable ought to be worth more. Your mileage may vary.

I would start with $300 if the tires are poor. If the rims look really good and there aren't parts missing I would maybe go to $500 if you really want it. Good, useable tires will add to that.

I bought one of my H's for $400 with an excellent original IH wide front end, useable front tires, destroyed rear tires and rims, and an 1110 mid-mount balanced head mower on it. Transmission and rearend were shot due to running without oil and a bearing going out.
Here it is as I bought it:

I bought the other one for parts for $150 with 1 useable rear tire and a good rearend/transmission. Here it is:

Both tractors had ruined blocks, one head was good, one seat was good, one steering wheel was useable. I have around $4500 in it now to look like this:

I agree $300 or up to $500 for reasonable tires.

If he won't sell, just go down the road and buy the next one you see. It may be a few miles. they are slowly getting farther between.

If you wait for a $100 H you'll likely not get a chance to buy.

A $100 H would have several parts either missing or broken.

I'd guess any where from $100-250 but thats about it. If the tires are ok then the high side of the numbers and if they are shoot the lower side.

If all the parts are on the tractor and the engine is stuck I wouldn't give more than $100.00. You can invest $3000.00
very quickly in one of these tractors. I doubt if he will give it away. Hal
