'Box' in 22-36 side panels?

Can anyone tell me why the 'box' was in the left hand side panel of the 22-36? Was it to keep it away from the exhaust? Was this a problem with the 15-30's?

What other differences were there between the 15-30 and the 22-36 (other than the HP).

Thanks C Clark

The box was to provide clearance for the carb. With the change in the manifold, there must not have been enough room there. 22-36 tractors had an enhanced coolong system with a thermostat in the intake water manifold. Also quarter inch bigger bore.
