I went to replace my axel seals last night and my right outer bearing is toast, with a capital T. The keepers that hold the balls is in pieces.

How do I pull the old bearing out?

Should I change the inner also?

Thanx.

Bob

newpuller If the bearing is as bad as you say, you might grind 2 screw heads flate on 2 sides to get them through the bearing race then trun them 1/4 trun and pull the bearing out. If it were me and going to use or pull the tractor I would replace iner bearing. Not hard job, yoi got tire off or will have. Drain rear end remove pto take cap screw out of axel that holds bull gear remove washer and put cap screw back in use a plock between screws of each axel and crew the srew back out pushing againest other axel. Then use bar to pull bull gear back and slid back of bull gear to one side and you can get at inner bearing to replace. If you need more info ask.

It worked thank you. And yes I am pulling with it. The inner feels a little sloppy so I'm changing it also.

So if you can get the axel out that way what is the inner bearing carrier for? I'm assuming that the axel has a clip on it that is held behind the carrier housing but the parts book doesn't show one, neither does the shop manual.
