hydraulic pump quit?

After several months sitting, I finished up another project and got back to the Farmall 460D I rebuilt the starter and got it running again. Wed night I mowed about 3 acres of grass hay, then had to quit because the hydraulics went out. No steering, no lift on the Farmhand F-11 loader, no three point. I took what little hydraulic fluid I had on hand out there (a gallon or two) and it worked enough for me to get the tractor back to the shop. I figured the fluid was low from sitting. Today I put 7 gallons of fluid in it and ran the bucket up and down a few times, then nothing. I replaced the filter back last year when I learned the lesson about not taking the TA off going down hill (DUH) I got the IT manual out and I am looking that over. I guess I will start by pulling the filter again. Any suggestions?

Is the hydraulic oil level holding or still dropping ?
How is the oil level in the engine ?

a suction line sucking air ? Pressure relief valve stuck open ?

Something happened today that rarely happens, The first thing i tried worked. I do have a slow hydraulic leak and the rear end was near empty when I got it running. (I usually notice right away if it low if I am using the loader but not this time.) It looks like letting it get that low picked up trash from he bottom of the case and totally plugged the filter. Thank goodness they put those things there. Cleaned the screen and a new filter and it works.

Glad you got it going. I need to replace the rear axle seals in my old IH as well. I have the parts, just need the time.
Ben

I see the 2444 do you have one of those? We have a 424D and I love that little tractor.
