Got a 656 farmall Hydrostatic diesel. I've changed the hydro fluids (20 gals).

Now I know that the 3 point hitch doesn't "Power down". but I thought that there was resistance to the hitch going up??? Right now with the arms all the way down, I can grab one of the lift arms and lift it all the way up..... .is this normal???

Also, for the rear pto, I see for the separator plates and friction discs, on one 656 parts site I see

12 FOR OEM CLUTCH PACK OR 9 FOR HEAVY DUTY CLUTCH PACK (separators)

5 FOR OEM CLUTCH PACK OR 7 FOR HEAVY DUTY CLUTCH PACK (clutchs)

Can I build a heavy duty clutch pack by using 9/7 instead of 12/5 separators/clutchs?

Yes, you should be able to grab ahold of the hitch and lift it by hand. Yes, you can install the 7 and 9 set-up, that"s been done for years. Two special tools are needed to work on the PTO unit, a special compressor to get the clutch pack apart, and a special fitting to connect a 600 psi guage to the unit to adjust start-up and lock-up pressures.
