I have a farmall 300 and when I turn the light switch to dim I burn out the fuse. the light bulbs are good although I am missing the left light, they should still work unless they are in series, where should I start to get to the fix I am ordering a manual.

There is a wire wound resistor on the light switch, if it is missing and wired wrong, or grounded to something behind the dash, it will cause the problem. The regular wiring should not be the problem because the bright and dim current both travel through the same wire.
Good luck. JimN

Blowing a fuse usually means a short circut somewhere. You say that the left light is missing, where is it's wire? Make sure it is insulated and not grounded.

Look and feel along the entire wiring harness. You may find a spot where it is pinched or rubbed through. Check extra close where the wires go through a hanger.

It's a 50 year-old tractor. The insulation may be cracked. May be time for a whole new wiring harness.
