i have a line on a Power Lift for my F-14. i know all the external pieces are there (lift assembly, seat, pump and funky casting from pump to lift). what i don"t know are what internal pieces i need. from what i gather there is a special nut or coupling that connects the pump to a drive shaft in the tranny. is this normally already in an F-14 tranny, or is it something special? if i pull the cover off the side of the tranny on my F-14 (the cover where the pump fits in), what should i look for in there?

any other pieces i need or tips to install ths thing?

thanks,

andy b.

What Dave said, but Ill add that what I did was to get some threaded rod in place of the bolts. Its easier to egt the pump on tha tway.

I have an F-14 with the power lift and in the restoration process here is what I found. The "funky" looking tube from the tranny to the lift unit is actually two pipes in one; one for supply and the other for return. The bottom end that bolts to the tranny houses the pump. If you take the existing plate off the side of the tranny, there should already be two smaller bolts that hold a bearing retainer in place, inside you should find a large hex nut. This nut is on the other end of the countershaft for the belt pulley. The pump for the liftall should already have a coupling on its shaft that fits over this hex nut. It's a little tricky to get it lined up perfectly to slide over the nut. A good way to check if it is aligned is as you are tightening the bolts for the pump to the side of the tranny is to rock the belt pulley shaft or the universal coupling. If it/they won't turn you aren't lined up correctly. There won't be very much movement, but if you don't have any, back off and try again. You may even have to take the top cover off (tranny) to see to get the smaller bolts to line up for the bearing retainer. If you need more help, Email me.
