Hi,
Could someone remind me on how to polarize a new voltage regulator on a 1953 Super A with the 6V system?

Thanks,
James

You cannot polarize the regulator; you can polarize the generator by momentarily touching the wire from the Bat terminal to the Gen terminal on the generator.

Thanks. Maybe I won"t have to do anything but install the regulator. Someone told me if I changed out any electrical componet, I would need to polarize it.

"I thought" that you either purchased a Positive or negative ground voltage regulator depending on the tractor wiring and then you were off and running!!!

Tom, Many Voltage Regulators are Bi Polar and will still work REGARDLESS of battery polarity while others may still work but not last quite so long if used in the opposite polarity they were designed for. Youre correct its ONLY the Gennys that gets polarized NOT the VR. If one reverses battery polarity but does NOT correctly repolarize the genny, it can be harmful to the VR however.

Tom,

I"ve never heard of buying specialized regulators ie;positive or negative.

Thanks,
James
