I just purchased a Farmall B today and have some questions before the service manual arrives. Is the engine equipped with wet or dry sleeves and where can I find the serial number on the tractor?

Thanks, Bob

Wet sleeves. Serial number is on a plate on the inside of the left seat support. If it is missing and it has the original engine the engine and chassis serials match through 201000. If not the year can be determined by casting codes in the form of Month*day*year. 12*31*I means Dec 31 1939. The * looks like a screw head. The numbers/letters are cast into the major castings. Year designations are I,J,K,L,M,N,O,P,Q,R, beginning with I for 1939.

Wet sleeves.

Serial plate is riveted to the inside (right side)of the LH support bracket for the seat support (if it hasn't been changed over to an aftermarket seat, and the original mount thrown away).
