Does a Super M with battery under the seat mean it is a Louisville or were some of the battery under the seat models not Louisvilles? If not how do you tell? Strictly by serial number? Thanks.

Also other than letter prefix to serial # they use 2 sets of serial numbers. Louisvlle started at serial # 500001 and farmall started at 501 and serial numbers never went as high as 6 digit.

The Louisville built super M will have a "L" prefix on the serial number. The super M built elsewhere will have a "SM" prefix.

I believe the serial plate had the "L" prefix to indicate a machine produced in Louisville.
