Put in carb kit or not?

I have a 300u, just changed plugs and it runs sweet. The old plugs were carboned up to the point of fowling a little. I adjusted the timing a little, and was going to adjust the carb. On the idle adjustment it does not make any difference if it is turned all the way in or all the way out.
Do I put in a carb kit or not? Remember, it is running very good (but I expect the mixture a little rich).

IF you have NO ideal adjust ment then there is something pluged . So pulling the carb off and soaking it in a good strong carb cleaner and making sure ALL passages are open sure will not hurt . As far as leaning them back with todays gas it is not the best idea as leaning back the mixture with some of the gas it will lean itself out when it burns and lean is mean . When ya have it tore down check everything and amke sure that the throttel shaft is not sloppy as this can cause a tuneing problem with tomuch air getting past the shaft.

I would. I have put in 5 kits in the last 2 years and the engine ran much much better in all of them. I put one on an M that didn't run to bad and it made it run even better. Just my opinion.

The idle one isn't the one that is causeing you problems but the main jet adjust might be. What happens if you screw the one at the bottom of the carb in, thats the main jet adjustment. Should be set some place around 1 to 3 turns out depending on your tractor.

If I read my IT Manual correctly, it said it needed to be out 5 turns to develop full power. That is where I had it, until tonight when I turned it in about 2 turns, so it is out about 3 turns now.

5 turns out according to the book, you can turn it in for better economy. At 3 turns, you may find out that it lacks power under load, or even stumbles, as my Super H did before I read the manual. They are all a little different.
