The boy and I drove about 100 miles north east yesterday to Rolla to visit with FarmallHal and to pick up a fast hitch auger from him. He showed us great hospitality even though we dropped in at the lunch time. He gave us the tour of his vast collection of fast hitch items along with his beautifully restored red tractors. It seems everbody I have met through this site turns out to be such great people. His home and buildings on his huge farm are like a disney land for tractor collectors. Thank you Hal for such a great time and allowing me to drive that 9 speed M.

Thanks Paul and the pleasure was really ours. It was nice you had a good trip and thanks for the pictures as I've had numerous folks wanting to see some pictures of my tractors. I just saw your note on Sunday after talking to my cousin in Tenneesse who said he saw them on your post. I've really met some great folks in the tractor things and am so glad it has become a retirement thing which is so natural on the farm where I grew up as a child. Thanks again and have a good one as it is raining in Rolla today. Hope you get some as well as we all need it. Hal

Paul your place was not too shabby, and I was at Hal's last Labor Day weekend. I thought it looked like each blade of grass was in it's place, along with every thing else.

Paul: Now, there is some darn nice countryside. Good looking tractors and I'm not going to comment further. I seem to remember one of those guys poking fun at my legs. I'll have to think on that one before making further remarks.

Seriously Paul, Hal has been telling me I should visit Missouri this fall. Something about last week of Sept. or first week in Oct. He said we could do a Missouri roundup, catch up with guys like you, Jimmy K, Harley, Brown Dirt Cowboy and others. Now your just clinching the idea with all that nice countryside. I suppose Missouri is that nice all year. Oh, I know you guys get snow, but snow that comes this morning and gone by noon tomorrow, heck that would hardly make us put on a long sleeve shirt here in Canada. Mike Soldan has what we call winter, snows 2" per hour for 40 days and nights. The only reason they don't have any accumulation is that Saginaw MI wind catches and blows it all down in UpState NY. True free trade.

Hal's place is greener than mine right now. I think he has had a little more rain. Very dry around Springfield. His place is a little bigger also, about 399 acres bigger. You may notice in any pictures from MO you wont see any skinny guys. We know how to eat. If you and Bob can find your way down here you wont go home hungry.

Nice pix Paul! Especially liked the shots of the red tractor out in the green field.

Hal: Sharp-looking collection!

Bob: Read my post to Paul, these Missouri guys are hospitality plus. They've been on me ever since my visit to NY last year about coming to Missouri. One of them, and I cant remember which one, told me that if I could round you up and you and I both came, along with our good wives, they'd cook a whole steer for the event. Now, I understand Hal and Jimmy know how to fill their chairs at the dining table and I do quite a good job myself, but heck a whole steer, those boys know how to feast.

So does this mean that they are going to take you out to supper every year at RPRU since you have a birthday every year at this time????
