Had a leak around overflow pipe on radiator. Water would flow out when tractor got under load Was busy and did not want to take off and have soldered. Applied JB weld where looked like most was coming from. Disked about 4 hors with tractor and did not observe problem. Disked about same amount of time with tractor few days later and observed little coolant seeping by but not much. If I cleaned radiator up and applied more around corners is it possible. I might stop problem. Im tempted to try this And if it does not work I can take off later and have soldered when have more time. Has anyone had luck doing something like this before... Thanks

I had a leak on my Super A in the same spot and used JB Weld to fix it a few years ago. It has not leaked. However the Super A does not have a pressurized radiator system... not sure about a 140 and if that would make a difference anyhow. My thinking was like yours.. if JB Weld doesn't work can always get it soldered.

I would say it is more skill than luck. Epoxy repairs are fine if the chemical resistance, temperature and stress capabilities of the expoy is not exceeded. Generally the repairs fail due to poor workmanship like not cleaning or not allowing proper cure time.

I repaired a cracked block just below the deck on a 265 Chevy and it held the two years I drove it.

I used JB Weld to fix a hole on an intake / exhaust manifold about two years ago - it"s still holding. Hole was on an exhaust port, which get plenty hot!!! I ran the tractor and heated the manifold up good, then put the JB on.
