I think Rusty Farmall is on the right track. Tractor prices are on the way up, no two ways about it. I was at an auction here in Southern, WI about five years back and saw two H's go for $700 for the pair. I was d*mn happy to buy one H a year ago for $650...but it took patience.

The region you are looking in seem to dictate price as much as condition. Here in the upper midwest, what you could spend five years ago wouldn't get you a sniff today.

Patience is the biggest key...and a little bit of luck too. You should still be able to find a solid M in the $1000 range. Good luck!

Billy

I can remember when you could buy a GOOD M for $500 or less, drive it home, hook it to the disc or plow, and go to the field. At that time you could also buy a brand new 90 to 100 horsepower tractor for around $8,000 or less. The times are a changin', look at what a new 100 horse tractor costs today.

let him keep it, sounds run down, hard to tell what else is wrong, 300.00 is just the tip of iceberg to repair it. was one down the road sold for 1100.00, even had very good tires on rear and alt.
