H ignition problems

The problem I'm having is occasional hard starting,rough running,and bad condensation build-up inside the dist,to the point that I can blow the water out with compressed air.I have a 12v coil on it now,and I added a ballast resistor to the circuit between the ignition switch and the coil.The condensation fouls the points.Sometimes it will only run on 2 cylinders,then smooth up and run fine.The coil is old,but it doesn't appear to be getting hot.A look inside the dist now and you'll find a rusty film build-up on everything.I tried leaving the dust plate out of it,that doesnt appear to help.

I'm on the verge of changing it to electronic ignition.

Any one encounter similar problems-I did a C last year and had no ignition problems,and they shared basically the same ignition parts.

Check the coil and if its really a true full 12 volt (internallay ballasted) coil then THROW OUT THE BALLAST and you should get a hotter spark and better performance. Of course, if its a 6 volt coil then you need the ballast.

mark the distributor on the bottom and take it off

drill three little holes for ventilation and run off and no more water.
