way back in 1900`s there was a man named champion who made and started the champion plug company. he had a son,and at his 21 birthday he was given one of the plug plants. the name of the plant was changed to "AC",,,named after the son. ALBERT CHAMPION! same plug just a different name, and now we know the rest of the story.

Champion AND AC spark plugs are both named after Albert Champion. The Champion spark plug company was started first, then sold by Albert Champion. He then went to work for Willie Durant, the founder of General Motors, and they started the AC spark plug company.
