Got my replacement rod, put the old piston on it, ready to put back in and realized I didn't look to see which way it was in before I pulled it. When I put it on the crank, which way should the rod cap be pointing?

Thanks!

Oh ya, the oil ring came with an octagonal piece with it. I take it this goes on inside the oil ring?

Thanks All

The numbers on the cap and rod go to the camshaft side (right-hand) side of the engine.

Yes, the spring goes on first under the oil ring. Oil it up really well as it can dig into the piston and not compress as it should. Also, make sure the gaps in the two parts are 180° apart from each other.
