I converted my '48 C to 12 volts, now I want to get all the lights working. My original (6v) lights were missing or junk so I bought a set of (12v) repro teardrop headlights and a used (6v) rear combo light off ebay. My question is what bulbs to use in the rear light. Is the 1195 the correct 12 volt bell shaped bulb for the rear white light? what is the 12 volt replacement for the small bulb with the red jewel cover?

As for the headlights, the ones I bought are already 12 volt and I think they have 1157 (dual filiment) bulbs (they aren't here right now so I can't check). Did the original headlight use a dual filiment bulb for the dim/bright or was it a single filiment bulb and the dim/bright function was done by the resistance coil in the switch? If it was a dual filiment bulb, is there a bell shaped 12 volt bulb?

sorry this got a bit long - really appreciate all the help I get from this site

The original 6 volt lamp for non-sealed beams was #1133, a single filament lamp. Many Tensor high intensity lamps used the same lamp and often are priced lower than the auto stores.

Don’t know the number for a bell-shaped, 12 volt headlamp bulb – or even if one exists. However the standard #1156 brake/backup bulb fits and works fine. It also provides plenty of light.

For the little bulb under the red “jewel” use a #52 or #53X lamp.

Have never seen a dual filament 1157-style bulb used in that type of headlamp. The dual filament socket bayonet pin arrangement is different from the regular bulb and won’t fit unless the bulb is jammed into the socket. But that’s not to say they don’t exist. I guess I’d take a close look at the bulb socket. If it’s got 2 buttons at the bottom and 2 wires leading from it, it’s indeed designed for a dual filament lamp.

Just did a little web surfing and found some bulb
specs: 1156 is 12.8v 2.1 amp 26.9watt 1195 is 12.5v 2.8 amp 35 watt
the 1195 has the larger "bell shaped" glass closer to the original 6v bulbs

I do not know the number but a good auto parts store will have the correct 12 volt replacement bulb. These bulbs are 32 candlepower headlight bulbs, and will interchange directly with the original 6 volt bulbs. The reproduction headlight assemblies do not have the correct bulbs in them, niether 6 volt or 12 volt.
