Can someone tell me how to set the timing on my 1466 ,436 motor? The timing should be 18 degrees. Mine is at 15. Won"t this make it run hot under a load? How do I set it? Can I lossen the pump and turn it or what has to be done? Any help appricated. Thanks Larry

There is a cover that the tach cable goes to opposite the fuel pump. Take it off and you'll see a gear with 3 bolts holding it on. Loosen the bolts. Also take out a plug using a 1/2" drive ext, that is located a about 7 o'clock under the pump mounting flange. Make sure the flywheel is on your #18 setting. Look in the plug hole and there will be two marks. They need to be lined up with each other. Take a socket (maybe a 3/4 or 15/16) place it inside the three bolts you loosed and you will move one of the marks. If it is not moving then you are at the end of the slots with the 3 bolts and you need to remove the 3 bolts pull the gear off and move it one tooth. Then you'll be able to line up the marks. Tighten the three bolts. Not sure on the torque setting thou.

Is that the flywheel or the crankshaft pully where the marks are at?

Flywheel, right side of clutch housing, 2 1/4" bolts hold cover on. The pointer is under the cover. Numbers will be on the 10"s with marks in between. Turn fly wheel with small crow bar in ring gear teeth through the hole where cover was.
