You could try jacking up the back end, put it in neutral so you can spin the wheel slowly, tightening only a little at a time on each bolt until you get 'em tight. Worked for me.

Need to break down the tires and remove the tubes and make up a couple blocks and drill to 3/4 inch holes in the block and PLUG WELD THEM to the new rims this way they will not slip thru if ya ever pull a heay load and get full traction she will slip wright thru the wedeges . I do not remember if we used 1/2 inch thick stock on the last ones i did several years back or if it was thicker and i used the press to bend it a bit so it would lay in the rim had to play with it to get the contour .

To be clear, I was in reference only to centering the rim on the casting, then removing the wood. JimN

Jon,
I would make up some wooden wedges (or buy some shim shingles) and use them as temporary centering positioners. It isn't fancy, but it will hold things even while tightening. Do not weld the tabs on, it will ruin the tube. (neighbor's folly)

Well ya cna just break down one side and pull the tube and leave the tire on and after it cools then put the tube back in .

If you mean the two pieces welded to the inside of the rim, those are needed in case the rim slips on the wheel, and according to what you say are needed to center the rim. I wouldn't mount it without them. If they don't help then your rim is out of spec.

So what do I need to do weld a couple of those little buggers on there? I would hate to have to take that tire and tube back off. Other wise I think welding may overheat the tube through the rim? JON

My guess is welding will ruin the tube, but I don't think it will work without them, but I have not tried it.
