Recently purchased a Farmall 340 (utility) with PS and a loader. It has now happened several time, where the hydraulic's suddenly quit. By moving the 2-point lift lever back and forth several times I can get it to start working again. I have checked the oil and it is were it should be. Thinking back, it usually happens after I go up a hill. What do you think my problem is. Thanks for your response.

I had a 340 utility a few years ago. I think you will find the reason yours does that is because the hydraulic pickup on that tractor is on the right side midway of the transmission housing. It didn't seem to be too hard to get the pick-up higher than the oil level by just leaning the tractor. Keeping the oil level over full seemed to help some. Maybe there is some fix for it now, but I can't tell you how many times I had to disconnect from equipment and get to level ground and bleed the pressure line to get the hydraulics working again. I kept that tractor 15 years and now that I have a tractor with good hydraulics I wonder why I fooled with it so long.
