I replaced the discs and springs and "cleaned up my balls", and now they work great, BUT, the left side goes 'klunk' each time I hit the brakes...problem, or just old tractor noise?
Thanks

I am haveing this same sound coming out of my 400. Talk to an old timer at the IH dealer and he said to check a pin on the brakes that some time gives away. I am waiting on my new disc to come and am going to take them apart and check it out. Just thought I would pass this on. He told me to check the same things that the other have said such as the wheel clamps and ect. All other things were ok.

IHC described those brakes as "Self Energizing" and they engage with a bit of a jolt that makes sounds like a "Clunk". I suspect they're finally working correctly.

If you also get a little "wiggle" in the seat of your pants, I would suspect a bad inner left axle bearing. Would be a lot less in reverse as there is less torque on the axle when braking from reduced moment arm.

You may have a loose wheel to rim clamp or two causing that "Clunk" when you hit the brakes. Provided you got the "Balls really clean" and with no pits as well as the ramps they ride in and then applied a small amount of lithium grease to the balls, I would suspect either a brake disk is hanging up on the spline or a loose wheel.
