I was using my SMTA yesterday pulling a 12 foot JD1380 swather in heavy timoty alfalfa hay. About all the tractor would do in low low. The governor would speed the ehgine up, then drop off again rather than holdin. I have a heavier spring in the governor and have turned the speed up to about 2000 RPMS. I also have electronic ignition and the lighter advance springs in the distributor. The rain cap is black on the bottom so think it is getting enough fuel. Any suggestions?

Well first off what is your total ing. advance at full throttel ???? If your are over 27-30 degrees this is not helping you . Now i know someone will hang me for this but myself i do not care for the electronic ing.set ups . Is the main fuel adjusting screw out about 4 1/2 turns off the seat ? When you installed the lighter springs did you have the dist checked on a strobe to see just what was happing at the differant dist RPM's ? A tractor engine is not a small block cheve that your running on the dragstrip.
