I got a farmall regular that was my dad's when he started farming. It sat for forty years or more and we are now starting to restore it. The squirrels had a nest in the clutch. We thought we would tear the engine out and put new rings and seals and whatever, but I cannot get the flywheel off the engine. Can anyone tell me how to get the flywheel loose?

I used a 4x4 and some all-thread to pull a couple of them. Worked really easily. I used a small block to initially take up the space between the 4x4 and the end of the crankshaft. This placed all of the pulling force directly on the crankshaft, not on the bearings, retainers, etc. Once the flywheel started to move, the block was removed. Take the big nut off first.

There is a special puller, one could make relatively easily.

However, I used 3 long 3/4" bolts with long threads. I threaded them into the tapped holes in the flywheel. The bolts pushed against the inside of the bell housing. I rotated the flywheel until I found 3 flat spots on the bell housings for the ends to fit. Just slowly & evenly tightened all three and backed the flywheel off.
