Buddy of mine has a super C with the axle moving in and out about 3/4 to 1". He is in the process of removing the top platform. Any idea what he is going to find?

Thanks guys,

He started this project before he called me, I don't think I will tell him about the PTO opening, since he ashould have the top cover off by now...

I was thinking about the bullgear retaining bolt, is there a cotter key on that? I have never been inside a C rear end so i am unfamiliar with them.

Me I would got through the PTO opening in the rear. Lots of parts to remove to get the top paltform off, and it is extrenmely heavy. Definently not easy to put back on with the weight and trying to get the shifting forks in the right place to line up correctly.

Had to remove platform on my son's SC as the shifter was rusted and would not move, also had to do some welding on the bracket for the shifting rails. Definently not a job I would want to do again if I could find another way.

He can check that through the PTO opening in the rear. just remove the PTO and if the retaining bolt is loose you can tighten it from there.

If he is very lucky he will find a loose, but not stripped bull gear retaining bolt. JimN
