Need help hooking up 6V generator with cutoff relay. Have manuals but generator and relay don't match wiring diagrams. My generator has two terminals, A and F. Cutout relay has three terminals on RH side (facing fwd) and one underneath--not like my diagram. None are labeled. The fwd relay terminal is hooked to gen "F" and the one underneath is hooked to gen "A". The middle and rear and rear terminals aren't connected. I don't know if the cutoff is wired correctly? Also, which terminal is the BAT. Sure appreciate some advice! Thanks.

First of all you dont have a cutout. Take the screws out of the mounts on the reg and they will be marked. BATT goes to the batt 6v pos gnd wire from the steering post sw. FIELD goes to the F post on the gen GEN goes to A on the gen. dont worry about the other marked with L.POLARIZE the gen by jumping from batt term to the A term on the gen before starting should draw a spark. After starting if it doesent show charge ground the F terminal then it should show charge. With F term grounded it doesent show charge the gen is bad. You should use a meter to make sure the reg is grounded to the gen asnd the gen is grounded to the tractor.

Here's one of Bob M's wiring diagram's. It covers the H 7M tractors with a cutout. Yours should be similar. Hal

Many thanks for the help. After I got over the egg-faced surprise that I had a regulator and not a cutoff relay, I got it hooked up correctly. Still didn"t charge. Followed all the good advice from this site, still didn"t charge. So now I"m off to the generator shop.
