Thanks to everyone for their help. When checking the blade height, I found that the rear was 1/4 inch lower than the front. I simply moved the rear brackets up one hole and it made the front 1/4 inch lower than the back. This minor adjustment made the world of differnce. I mowed my grass last night, in second gear, with no problems at all. Once again, thanks to everyone for their help. I will now enjoy my little cub even more.

Good to hear that it was an easy fix. It is a real joy to use machinery that is operating properly, and a real pain trying to use it when it's not set-up correctly.
