I use PPG Omni 8568, a GM rally wheel color. Has some gray in it.

I sprayed my tractor rims yellow. This was 30 years ago before all this tractor restoring started. It was on a Farmall A and I painted the
16-inch moldboard plow yellow too. It looked nice with the red paint. If you want see a picture of it send me an email. Hal

When I did my H, I bought the red and silver paint from a local CASE IH dealer. Silver works fine but I wouldn't recommend using the red. Also I sprayed it on.

Most of the guys use Aluminum paint.
A few others use GM Rally Wheel Gray.

I use rust-o-leum aluminum, straight out of the can. Brush it on.

Does the brush on paint look just as good as sprayed on paint and last just as long?

It won't look as good as those high dollar premium paint jobs, but the way I do it looks every bit as good as original, and yes, it will last a long time.

I think a lot of people paint the rims with a brush if the tires are on the rims as you don't get all the overspay on the tires. I always take the tires off and sandblast the rims especially on the inside where there seems to be a lot of rust on some rims. Painting with a brush with the thin aluminium paints doesn't leave very many brush marks; because those paints seem to be so thin and flow well if you don't paint in too hot weather or with the rim in the sun.
