Gene, my 1948 Super A has developed a hydraulic leak thru two small sand casting holes in the Touch Control Cylinder Block about two inches above the manifold rear flange. The two holes are 1/4 inch apart. What is your recommendation to repair the leaks for it is getting worst. Thanks.

I have never ran into that yet but if the leak doesevt seem to be a pressure leak clean area good and use JB WELD. Like other post says drill and tap a cap screw would work probably the best. Welding could also be another way. You would need to remove the unit from the tractor.

Not Gene B here either, but one could drill and tap for small pipe plugs. Or, the JB weld may work also. I cannot hardly believe they are pinholes in the casting. This is almost 60 years old and that should have showed up years ago. Someone surely would have fixed it by now.

I'm not Gene, but those plugs can be replaced. They are leaking because of rust, meaning your fluid has water in it. If the hydraulics are otherwise working ok, replace the plugs (from Case-IH or anything that fits, drain, refill, operate system, drain and refill again. That should remove most, but not all of the contamination. If you have other problems, rebuild kits are available from CIH for about $100.

The plugs are not leaking. I have two pins holes on the side of the touch control cylinder block that are leaking. Any suggestion is most appreciated.

I don't know. I have 3 of those units, none have the holes, hard to imagine cast rusting through, or a defect in manufacturing either. Mine do have several places with Allen head screws in them, but you said pinholes. I suppose they can be welded. If they are not under much pressure, you can drain the reservoir, clean it up as best you can, and try JB Weld -- people have fixed engine blocks with it, but the hydraulics will have much more pressure. If Gene doesn't answer, ask again, he is usually around.
