Yesterday my son and I went to a local tractor show. My background is primarily with CASE, but there was a WD9 there that was awesome! If a big tractor like that can be pretty, it was. A beautiful restoration/paint job. Brand new 18.4's on the back and new fronts as well. What an impressive old tractor. The show was in Appleton, WI.

In my opinion, the rice versions of the 9's (WR-9, WDR-9, SWDR-9 & WR-9S) were the best looking tractors IHC ever built. Their big fenders, 23.1 rice & cane rear tires and big single rib front tires just enhance the looks of the already good looking 9 series.

They also look good on steel. The rice series had BIG steel. Standard size was 54" x 12" with 6" lugs on rear and 34" x 6" with 2" guide rings on front. They were often equipped with 54" x 18" on rear and 34" x 8" on the front. The steel wheels on the regular 9 series were 48" x 12" with 4" lugs on the rear and 30" x 6" with 1 1/2" guide ring on the front. Equipped either way, rubber or steel, it was one tough looking, good looking tractor, imho.

I have a picture of a SuperW6TA that was restored
by a family in OH. They did a W12 too. If interested I can email you pictures. Hal

McCormick-Deering Tractors are really nice looking tractors to include the W-9's, W-6's and W-4's. They can usually be purchased at a very competitive price, especially the 9's.

As nice looking as the tractors are, their re-sale value is not as high as it should be.

Thanks,

Bill Carlton
