Hi, I have a 1950 Wd-6 tractor and wanted to know where I could buy a carb kit or parts to fix it? Also does the Wd-6 have the same carb as a farmall MD? Are the carbs easy to fix or not?
Thanks!!

A similar condition happened to our MD many years ago. What happened was that the cam in the carb that shuts off the needle valve on the gas inlet, when running on diesel, had come off its shaft due to a loose, and subsequently missing, nut, and was therefore inoperable. Unless we shut off the valve at the gas tank, the bloomin' thing would suck the gas out of the tank and blow it out the exhaust when running on diesel. Sound similar to your simptoms? I'd suggest you look into that early in your diagnosis. Good luck, and let us know what you find.

MD and every other gas start diesel were the same carb. Someone maybe Justin Weber had a kit. Easy rebuild, I"ve done a few, but usually a good cleaning and clean and seal the tank will do wonders. Geoff

Hi can you send me some info on what to do if you always have to shut the gas off or it will run over.

The carburetor for a diesel is kind of an animal all it's own. I don't know where to get parts for it, but I think I would try taking the needle and seat out and give both of them a good cleaning. Use some spray carb cleaner and fine steel wool and I bet she's good to go for another 60 years.
