I just used my "51 H 3 days ago. Nothing seemed wrong. Today, i went to start it and it turned over fine, but wouldn"t start!! Gas was dripping from the carb after awhile of trying. This tractor usually starts very easily. I tried every hour and nothing. What could be the problem? I need this tractor for raking hay and the hay is getting taller. Thanks for any help!

Try pulling it with another rig.

Don't bother. If it'll turn over decent on the starter, then pulling it is just as much of a waste of time as trying it every hour without so much as a half-hearted effort at troubleshooting...

Sir, original poster, you've got to try SOMETHING to fix the tractor... They don't heal like people and animals; time isn't going to make the problem mysteriously go away like a paper cut.

Air, fuel, and fire, all at the right time. That's what makes an engine run. If you're lacking one of those, then the engine will not run.

yup. if there is gas dripping that would be normal on a no-start. Could be something as simple as forgetting to turn on the switch but I'd suspect poor spark. The sparkplugs could be wet from trying too. I'd pull the plugs and see what they are doing. third party image

Check and see if it has a good blue spark. I'd guess you may need a new set of points. Doesn't take much dirt etc to stop the points from working

the tractor has a 6 volt system with distributor. I will pull the plugs and see what's happening.

ok,
perhaps the points and cap got moisture in there somehow. pull the cap and make sure is dry. Then pull a plug wire and check for spark.
