the H i got isn't stuck. My cousin and i went over and i had him give her a shot at hand starting her, and he got the engine to turn over and i heard the mag click, but i want to run it off a battery, and when i hooked it up, all i heard was a click, and the ground cable is shot. could this be the problem, if this isn't then what is?? thanks for help

If your tractor has a magneto, the battery is only used to crank the engine. The mag creates it's own spark when the magnets pass by the coil.
I would install a new ground and use 00 cable.
Change the battery cable to the starter too with 00. Unhook the grounding cable on the mag until you get it running. You can pull the coil wire to stop the engine. Those points in the mag need to be adjusted to .013" and cleaned until nice and shiny. Use 320 grit if you don't have a point file. Hal
