I am refilling transmission (drained through drain plug)of Farmall Super A (1952) and my Owners Manual says the capacity is 51/2 Qts of 90Wt. It also says to fill to "level plug". I put in 4 Qts and I am WAY OVER the "level plug". Which do I believe?

Pete

Pete,
Did you forget the drain plug on the belt pully (PTO) housing? My SA book says drain it at the same time as the transmission, since it gets its oil from the transmission. Could that cause your problem?

Thanks for the comments, I will drain belt pully housing. Once I opened the level plug at lease 1/2 of the gallon came out. So I assume that once the belt pully housing is drained and refilled with oil, the volume of oil left in the bottom of the transmission is about 2 qts - Correct??

Drain the belt pulley housing, start and run the tractor shut off and add more oil to level of check hole.
