I sure this question has been asked many times before, what oil is used in transmission of a 350 utility ? Also in regards to the TA on a 350 utility I understand that many of them don't work. What's the common thing that breaks in them ? Thanks, Greg

I just got a 350DU and all the operators manuals and I&T manuals say the transmission uses 7 gallons of 10w motor oil with one quart of T A oil. Some people I talked to today said that HYTRAN may also be used and agreed with the post that 80 90 gear oil was a bit heavy in the winter and may gum up the T A. I also heard that there are cylinder liners and pistons available that fit the 193D engine that are made for a different continental diesel, but work. I am going to check this out this week or next, just in case some time in the future I have a problem. I will post the results.

Try "powermaxparts.com" for the GD-193 engine parts.

With TA use Hy Tran,or the premium tractor/hydraulic.The components (ramps and rollers) can be gummed up by 80W90 lube especially in cold weather.

If the TA is gummed up can they be washed out with diesel to get them working again? When I pull the TA lever the tractor stops like the main clutch was pushed in. No grinding noise or nothing.

It's probable that your TA is out on the low side, but before you make that conclusion, you should try adjusting the clutches exactly according to the directions in the Operators Manual. It's very common for the clutches to be out of adjustment, and sometimes all that's needed to get the TA working is to make the proper adjustments.

Good luck.

No. That's the main symptom of a bad TA unit. Your 350's TA is toast, and needs to be rebuilt or replaced with a rebuilt unit.

I have a 350 utility. I know that the pieces on it are as valuable as gold. I purchased two small bearings and races that looked like bycycle bearings at $65.00 each (for the stearing)

I work this thing every spring...its old but reliable. I filled the transmission last year and for the life of me I cannot remember, I have the can over in the barn if nobody else jumps on this quickly.
