HELP: flange key removal

1947 'B' farmall.
Trying to remove a transmission shaft flange key. Heat and hammer have not helped. any suggestions? (shaft is still in transmission housing)

not sure what you are calling a flange key, but if it is waht I call a Woodruff or half moon key, I recently had a similar problem on a touch control pump. I finally took it to a local machine shop, and after he fought it about 15 or 20 minutes, he welded a small nut to the key so he could get a better grip on it, and it came right out.
