Can the clutch be changed with out splitting the tractor? I have heard you can and others say you can't. And if you can would it be easier to split anyway.
Thanks Shaggy

Yes, the clutch can be replaced, but not the pressure plate as I understand it... My dad did it once on his Super M.

How it is possible, I do not know. The transmission input shaft, which is a piece of solid steel, goes through the clutch and into the pilot bearing in the flywheel... That's the way typical setups are, at least. Unless the input shaft slides back and forth or something... I don't get it.

Nat, you need to get some tractor manuals and study this subject a little. The pressure plate and clutch disc are a unit, yes, they are two separate pieces, but the pressure plate is what holds the clutch disc in, the pressure plate has to come out before you can get to the clutch disc. The input shaft from the clutch to the transmission can be unbolted, and completely removed. Thus the entire clutch and pressure plate can be swapped out without splitting the tractor. The only thing that cannot be removed is the flywheel, and it could probably be wiggled out also but it is too heavy to try and do that.

last one i swapped out without splitting tractor i decided to time myself. start to finish took me 52 minutes. everything went fine. probably should allow yourself 2 hours for first time. i used a floor jack to drop the belly pump.
