We have an "M". We have found a wide front end for it, but the front end is currently on an "H".
How much hardware, brackets, etc. do we need to put the front end on our "M"? Acccording to our information, the front ends are the same, except mounting hardware. Is this correct??? Thanks to those who can hlep!!

An H through the 450 front end uses the same 4 holes to mount to the cast front bolster. You will have to make new pieces to brace the rear part to the frame, and buy a new steering arm.

My wide front is a Schwartz and I took it from a 450 and put it on my H with minimal fabrication.

yes, you are correct. And who knows, it may already be an M widefront? By changing the mounting holes they can be made to fit. The spindles and hubs are heavier on an M but the rest of the front is the same. They even use the same picture in the parts books. An no, it won't make the tractor run "downhill" the spindles are the same length.

The front ends are NOT the same to the best of my knowledge. An H is a much lower tractor, and as such, the front end is lower too. An H's frame is also narrower.

You could make up a steel plate to adapt the H front end to the M, but then the tractor would be running "downhill," and would look pretty dumb..

Clearances and wheel sizes on the H and M are the same. Tire sizes are typically one size larger on the M, but the rims, front and back are the same diameter and are interchangeable. The additional height comes from a taller grille, larger gas tank, etc.
