Last night I got two pistons to free up on my super A but when I was driving the other two out with a oak block two of'em came out with the sleeves. They are very corroded and seem to be really stuck. How can I get the piston out of the sleeve and can I reuse either of them? Thank ya'll for your help.

Just my 2 cents as well: We have restored several F-20 from the same shape it sounds like you tractor is in,here is what we did: We put the sleevs and pistons in a press and pressed the pistones out. After they were out we looked both parts over really well and most of the time we put new rings on the pistons and honed the sleeves, not bored but just honed them real good, put it all back together. We have had great luck in doing this, they all have carried GOOD compression( thought I broke my wrist when it kick the crap out of me through the hand crank). We just show ours and parade them,if this is what you intend on doing then alot of compression really isn't needed.Just my 2 cents.

It is junk even if you could get the piston out the walls will be UNUSABLE. Throw all that junk away and get new sleeves and pistons. You are lucky that you got the whole thing out together i had one even the sleeve was stuck.

Hi Russell , All good advice here . My two cents is more or less the same , just rebuild it and be done with it unless you are not planning on keeping it . I just looked up some prices on this site and for a comprehensive overhaul kit with valves , bearings , overbore sleeves and pistons with rings , all made to fit with each other , you are only looking at about 500 bucks more or less . Just a piston and sleeve set is about half that . Money well spent in my opinion . Good luck with whatever you decide ! ...Randy

I would agree with Rusty on using an acetylene torch to heat the old sleeves. I did that on an Farmall A 30 years ago. I would have the block dipped, crankshaft measured for wear, new sleeve kit and bearings. Have the new pistons installed
on the old rods, they probably need new bushings.
You local auto machine shop has the equipment to do this. Take the head too. Hal

Same thing happened to me with my M. I beat on the sleeve with a hammer to crack it to get the piston out of the sleeve. I only planned on using the rod anyway. My ring were so corroded that you couldn't even tell that there were rings in it. If I were you I'd spend the money for new sleeves and pistons, or you might be tearing your motor down again real soon. It all depends on how badly coroded your sleeves are. Mine were shot.

Having the sleeve come out with the piston is a good thing, at least now you won't have to pull those 2 sleeves. You should be able to heat the sleeve with a torch and get it to expand enough to free up the piston. Whether or not you can reuse either the sleeve or the piston will depend on the condition after you get them to separate.
